MobileVideo For iPod is a free application developed by Keronsoft which will help you if you need to convert your video files and make them compatible with your iPod.

Yes, iTunes also offers that service but it is limited to certain formats. MobileVideo for iPod supports more formats and the results are better so it becomes a better choice if you need to convert your videos.

A simple and intuitive interface divided into two parts will guide you throughout all the process. The first one is called iPod Video Converter, where you'll choose the video formatted as MPEG, VOB, ASF, SWF, RM, AVI, MOV or WMV and export it as .MP4 to the folder you want. The second one is called DVD To iPod Converter and it will convert your DVD movies automatically to mp4.

Finally, MobileVideo For iPod also allows you to convert audio files formatted as WAV, WMA, MP2, AC3, RA, M4A, OGG, AAC into mp3 files.
